Ministry |
|
Our church family shares in many opportunities to
share our gifts, serve together in Christian fellowship and to reach out
to those in need. We not only support our own local church
ministry, activities and programs but also offer support to Our Church's
Wider Mission (OCWM), a mission project within the international
denomination of the United Church of Christ. |
|
Youth Ministry and Christian Education |
| Sunday Childcare |
Childcare for children up to age 5 is available
Sunday mornings during the 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM worship services. |
Sunday School & Adult Bible Study |
Our Christian Education program nurtures children of all ages to
grow in faith. Stories of Jesus' life and ministry are the
inspiration for us to discover our talents and to share our gifts
within St. Paul's church family and in the community. From
Kindergarten to Adult Bible Study, we welcome you to discover
your talents. Sunday School and Adult Bible Study meet Sunday
mornings at 9:00 AM from September to May. |
| Confirmation
Class |
Confirmation study is based upon the United Church of
Christ historical faith documents and lectionary Bible study. The
year-long program is for children in 6th grade and up. Confirmation
classes usually begins in October. |
| Youth Group |
Meetings are usually held
every other Sunday evening from September
to May. The youth group is involved in a variety of service
projects including a summer mission trip to repair houses of elderly and
disadvantaged people unable to afford the upkeep of their homes. In
addition, the youth group enjoys fellowship, fun and opportunities to
participate in community service. The Youth Group is open to youth
in the sixth grade and up. |
|
Music Ministry |
| Choir |
The men and women of St. Paul's choir rehearse
Wednesday evenings from September to May. The choir performs
anthems, special music and leads the congregation through a celebration
of music ministry at the 10:30 AM service. |
Special Music |
At St. Paul's we enjoy the music ministry of many
talented musicians and singers sharing their gifts of music with the
congregation during the 9:00 AM service. While the choir is on summer
hiatus, special music is also provided during the 10:30 AM service. |

Community Service |
| The W. C. Atkinson Shelter |
The Atkinson Shelter is located in Coatesville, PA and
provides emergency and transitional shelter to residents of Chester
County who are homeless and capable of substantial self-care.
For more than 12 years, our congregation has been supplying home cooked
meals to residents of the shelter. Volunteers are divided into
teams and work together in donating, preparing and serving nutritious
meals to the 20-25 men residing at the shelter. Our meals always
receive very high ratings on the delicious scale. |
| Old First Reformed Church |
The Old First Reformed Church is located in Center City,
Philadelphia and, in cooperation with homeless initiatives in the
area, provides meals and a warm place to stay during the coldest
months of the year. The Youth Group, and their families, prepare
and serve 20 homeless people once a month from November through
April. |
| Food Bank |
The food bank serves hundreds of people each year.
For over 20 years we have been actively participating in the Care
and Share Food Bank. Each of the twelve churches in the
Exton/Lionville Ministerium has a coordinator to oversee the
donation and delivery of food staples to the food bank located at
the Lord's Pantry in Downingtown.Food donations are collected throughout the year and especially during
our Harvest Home Celebration services. Additionally, through out the year each
congregation is responsible for sorting donations and delivering the food to the
Lord's Pantry. Chester as well as Montgomery and Philadelphia
Counties, also have a network of food providers for emergency purposes
when the need arises. |
| Our Wider
Mission |
St. Paul's congregation offers financial support to
many local, national and international organizations including YWCA in
Bombay, India, One Great Hour of Sharing, Habitat for Humanity, Chester
County Aids Support Services, Bethany Childrenšs Home and Mensch Mill
Camp.
Through Our Church's Wider Mission (OCWM) the United Church of Christ
works in cooperation with other denominations assisting the poor and
suffering at home and abroad. The congregation of St. Paul's joins
in partnership with every congregation in the whole United Church of
Christ in our own country and around the world including churches in
Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and the Pacific.
Money given by congregations throughout the United States funds local,
nation-wide and global ministries with approximately 50% of offerings
from our regional UCC congregations staying in the local area. The
funds support the many ministries in Chester County, as well as
Montgomery, Berks, Philadelphia, Delaware and Bucks Counties. The
remainder of the money is shared within the global community.
Many congregations set aside 10% of their annual budgeted income to fund
the activities of the OCWM including natural disaster relief, war
relief, efforts to stop the spread of epidemics, aid to distressed
areas, educational support, as well as peace-making efforts, and
initiatives to end racial and economic injustices.
As a congregation of the United Church of Christ, we are strongly
committed to providing financial support to our wider mission.

| Visitation |
When members of our church can no longer attend Sunday Services
due to aging or illness, many from the congregation offer
companionship through weekly visits. |
| Day Timers |
The Day Timers
enjoy monthly outings to such
destinations as Longwood Gardens, Chester County Historical Society
exhibits, Franklin Mint, and other area museums and attractions.
Before heading back, the group stops for lunch at a nearby restaurant.
The entire trip offers the perfect opportunity to share
experiences, meet new friends, and sample some of our areas favorite
attractions. To join us on our next adventure or for more
information on the Day Timers Club, please call the church office at
